Is Voice Mail Obsolete?

Apparently those of us who still call our voice mails to check messages are in the minority. Many people have their voice mail electronically transcribed and sent to them.

  1. Voice recognition software has come a long way, but it still sucks… and fails to take into account inflection and nuance.

I do however get an email alerting me to VM’s at work, which rocks when you’re working from home.

  2. Ours at work isn’t transcribed, but it shows up in our mailboxes as a sound file attachment, so you don’t have to go to the effort of picking up the phone to listen to it (unless you want to).

  3. I’m not there yet.
