If I had one piece of advice for all work “holiday” parties it would be this: Don’t get drunk.
Yes, it sounds obvious. We all know that alcohol lowers inhibitions, and most of us like to have inhibitions in the workplace. I don’t, after all, need to see other folks private parts. So if you want to avoid telling the boss what you really think, screeching about your coworkers when you think you’re whispering, and making out with someone you don’t really like in the supply closet, stop after one drink. Better yet—don’t drink at all.
And if the fear of embarassment doesn’t make you abstinent for work parties, try the calculator that turns your drink calories into food calories, so you can see your caloric pigginess.

But those are British calories so it does not count! Just like the pound to the dollar, they are worth more.
I don’t drink at work functions because it is more amusing to be sober and watch the unfortunate coworkers makes fools of themselves.

Ah, yes, and some of those British Calories translate into some odd foods.
