Pardon all the Turkeys
Late to the party on this one.
Perhaps if turkeys were slaughtered humanely, I would feel more predisposed to eat them on Thanksgiving: Bill Maher on George Bush: Pardon all the Turkeys.

Late to the party on this one.
Perhaps if turkeys were slaughtered humanely, I would feel more predisposed to eat them on Thanksgiving: Bill Maher on George Bush: Pardon all the Turkeys.
Probably no one can imagine herself being “humanely slaughtered.”
That such a stunning oxymoron is so accepted is a tribute to the power of tradition and group-think to scramble people’s moral compasses. Maybe ancient humanity had no choice, but we do.
These are living, breathing sentient beings. They protect their babies. They know joy and suffering, physicial and emotional. We know this.
IMHO, your disposition not to harm them is a reflection of the arc of the universe bending towards justice (as Thedore Parker observed it does.)
